Iontophoresis is a non-invasive technique that uses a mild electric current to
deliver drugs through the skin. Drugs may be delivered either into tissue
immediately surrounding a patch for local delivery, or into the blood stream
for systemic delivery.

Our proprietary technology is the result of over 10 years of research. The result
is an active, transdermal drug delivery platform employing an adhesive patch
containing medication and a small electronic dose controller. The patch consists of
two pre-loaded reservoirs, a drug reservoir that contains the drug to be delivered
and a return reservoir with saline to complete the circuit. The controller contains
a battery and a preprogrammed microcomputer to control the electrical charge. The
two components connect through an interface. The product shown in the picture to the
right is our Lidocaine Delivery System, future product designs can be configured to meet the needs of the
specific application.

The technology can mimic other delivery routes and provide a wide range of
tightly-controlled dosing profiles. In Chart 1 we have matched the IV infusion
of a peptodomimeic delivery in man with our active transdermal drug delivery
system. The three charts below demonstrate other dosing profiles we are capable
of delivering.

There are numerous applications for our drug delivery system in treating
a variety of diseases. The chart below demonstrates the benefits of
our drug delivery technology on various clinical applications.

Vyteris iontophoresis systems have been shown to cause only mild transient erythema when used
with both placebo patches and for the vast majority of drugs tested. This has
been shown through multiple trials involving hundreds of subjects, a variety of
drugs, and numerous operation parameters, including patch size, delivery
duration and electric current.
