Our management has extensive experience in the medical products industry across all essential managerial functions and has brought products through development, scaled-up manufacturing, and managed large medical product manufacturing and sales operations. The team has worked with transdermal patches and other drug delivery systems, both in large public companies, smaller private companies, and start-ups.

Vincent De Caprio, Ph.D., President and Vice Chairman. Dr. De Caprio spent 23 years in various capacities at BD, including Senior Vice President of Advanced Drug Delivery, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of BD, Sector President for Technique Products Group and President of BD's Vascular Access business. He is currently Vice President and Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering and a member of the Advisory Boards of Johns Hopkins University, Department of Bioengineering, MIT's Center for Biomedical Engineering and Georgia Institute of Technology's Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience. Dr. De Caprio is also a trustee and a member of the Board of Overseers of New Jersey Institute of Technology. Dr. De Caprio received a B.S.E.E. from the Newark College of Engineering (New Jersey Institute of Technology) in 1972 and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York (Polytechnic University) in 1975 and 1977, respectively.

Michael McGuinness, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. Mr. McGuinness has 24 years of finance and accounting experience, was formerly the Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of EpiGenesis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a privately held biotech company, and the Chief Financial Officer of BlueStone Capital Partners, a broker/dealer and investment bank. Mr. McGuinness received a B.B.A. in Accounting from Hofstra University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

C. Gregory Arnold, Vice president of Manufacturing and Process Development. Mr. Arnold was the Executive Director of Transdermal Development for Watson Pharmaceuticals (Theratech) managing manufacturing scale-up and facility validation for commercial launch of two transdermal products. Earlier he was vice president, Operations, for Cygnus Therapeutic Systems where he managed manufacturing scale-up and facilities validation for commercial introduction of one transdermal product. He was also manager of Product Development for Ciba-Geigy Corporation where he managed manufacturing scale-up and facilities validation for commercial launches of two transdermal products. Mr. Arnold received a BS in Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

James Garrison, Vice President - Business Development. Mr. Garrison had 12 years of marketing and business development experience at BD. During his tenure he served as Manager of Business Development for BD's Advanced Drug Delivery Group as well as Director of Business Development & Marketing for BD's Transdermal Systems. Mr. Garrison received a B.A. in English from Rhode Island College in 1982, an M.I.S. from Rutgers University in 1989 and an M.B.A. from Seton Hall University in 1997.

Ashutosh Sharma, Ph.D., Director of Product Development. Dr. Sharma joined Vyteris after 9 years at BD (Becton, Dickinson and Co.) during which he held the most recent positions of Program Manager for integrated drug delivery and diagnostic system and Manager, Intelligent Systems Development for BD’s Consumer Healthcare Business. Prior to that he was Project Manager for BD’s Corporate Medical Affairs Organization. He has been instrumental in leading the design and development of an integrated Blood Glucose Monitoring and Insulin Delivery Systems, analysis of scientific and clinical data, and in developing pharmacokinetic models of insulin delivery. Dr. Sharma holds a B. Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India. He is also a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute holding M.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Computer & Systems Engineering and a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering. His work at Rensselaer was the subject of five publications on the controlled delivery of anesthetics.

Yogeshvar Kalia, Ph.D., Scientific Director. Dr. Kalia is a senior lecturer at the University of Geneva School of Pharmacy. He has authored over 55 articles and has over five years research experience in the iontophoretic delivery of peptides.

George Baskinger, Manager, Regulatory Compliance and Quality Management. Mr. Baskinger has over 20 years experience in FDA regulated industry. He joined Vyteris after 6 years at Becton Dickinson (BD). Prior to joining BD, Mr. Baskinger was Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs at two medical device manufacturing companies. Mr. Baskinger was also employed by the Food and Drug Administration for three years as a Biomedical Engineer and field investigator in Newark District (New Jersey District). He holds a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering degree from Newark College of Engineering (NJIT) and a Master of Science Electrical Engineering degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology.
